How to Polish Tungsten Carbide

Tungsten carbide, one of the hardest materials on Earth---with an "8" on the hardness scale---is commonly used to make rings. (In comparison, diamonds are the hardest material known to man and are a "10" on the hardness scale.) Rings made from tungsten carbide are ideal for those who are rough on their jewelry. You can easily polish such rings and other tungsten carbide jewelry with mild soap and distilled water.

Step1

Put a few drops of mild soap into a bowl.

Step 2

Add a few inches of distilled water and mix.

Step 3

Submerge the tungsten carbide piece and rub it gently with your fingers. You can scrub scratches with a soft toothbrush.

Step 4

Remove the jewelry from the soapy water and dry it thoroughly with a towel.

Step 5

Use the soft cloth to buff and polish the ring.
