Molybdenum Rod

Molybdenum's properties include a melting point of 2610' C, good electrical conductivity and tensile strength at high temperatures, along with low vapor pressure and a low coefficient of thermal expansion.

Because of such characteristics, the metal finds wide use in fabricating heating elements, fasteners and structural components for high temperature HIP, vacuum and hydrogen atmosphere furnaces. It is also of value in the lighting, electronics and semiconductor industries. Applications of metal rod include lamp supports, power tube components and silicon rectifier mounts.

FOTMA produces pure and lanthanated doped molybdenum rod(Mo-La Rod). The lanthanated-doped products are targeted for use in higher temperature applications where ductility is retained after recrystallization for material with smaller cross sections.

Availability
Molybdenum rod is manufactured as random length pieces or cut to customers' desired lengths in diameters ranging from 0.5mm to 45mm. Other, closer tolerances can be quoted on request. In addition, there are three different surface processes or finishes that are provided, depending on the desired end use.

Surface Finish
Black - Surface is "as swaged" or "as drawn"; retaining a coating of processing lubricants and oxides.
Cleaned - Surface is chemically cleaned to remove all lubricants and oxides.
Ground - Surface is centerless ground to remove all coating and to achieve precise diameter control.
